Ann Faison – Author
Ann Faison, the author of Dancing with Midwives, A Memoir of Art and Grief, show grief as a profoundly beautiful experience. The book’s unique approach to a difficult subject makes it unique and important. Ann takes a nonlinear approach to telling her story of transformation after her child dies in utero. Poetry and short prose describe each moment when something in her shifts. As an artist, the addition of her drawings made after the still birth serve to illustrate the creative process of grief on a nonverbal level. For the past decade, Ann Faison has worked extensively with the internationally renowned healer and author David Elliot and is certified in his breath work training. In her healing practice she sees individuals and holds monthly group sessions, specializing in grief and creativity. Tonight she joins us to discuss Dancing with Midwives, A Memoir of Art and Grief, her work, and her experiences.
Maureen Seaberg has previously lectured on spirituality and synesthesia at the Towards a Science of Consciousness Conference at the University of Arizona-Tuscon. Mareen has lower and higher synesthesia, both forms and concepts appear to her in color. She sees “k’s” as teal and “8’s” as aubergine. Maureen has been a journalist for two decades; has written for the Daily News, the New York Times, ESPN the Magazine, Irish America, and a number of other publications. She has also covered breaking news for MSNBC and appeared on PBS, CNN, and NBC. Maureen earned a BA in journalism with a minor in Spanish from Penn State University, and a certificate of superior-level Spanish from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. In 2009, she won a scholarship to the inaugural Norman Mailer Writers Colony. Tonight she joins us to discuss her book: Tasting the Universe: People Who See Colors in Words and Rainbows in Symphonies.
