Ann Faison, the author of Dancing with Midwives, A Memoir of Art and Grief, shows grief as a profoundly beautiful experience. The book’s unique approach to a difficult subject makes it unique and important. Ann takes a nonlinear approach to telling her story of transformation after her child dies in utero. Poetry and short prose describe each moment when something in her shifts. As an artist, the addition of her drawings made after the still birth serve to illustrate the creative process of grief on a nonverbal level. For the past decade, Ann Faison has worked extensively with the internationally renowned healer and author David Elliot and is certified in his breath work training. In her healing practice she sees individuals and holds monthly group sessions, specializing in grief and creativity. Tonight she joins us to discuss Dancing with Midwives, A Memoir of Art and Grief, her work, and her experiences.
