In an article on the Telegraph.co.uk, it has revealed that eating chocolate on a regular basis might actually prevent people from having a stroke. Researchers studied close to fifty thousand individuals and discovered that those individuals that ate chocolate were 22 percent less likely to have a stroke than those individuals that do not eat chocolate. What’s more, people that have had a stroke in the past but that began eating chocolate were as much as 46 percent less likely to die.
Chocolate contains flavonoids as well as antioxidants according to the researchers from the University of Toronto who conducted a study. The question remains however, if eating chocolate reduces stroke risks or if healthier people are simply more prone to eating chocolate.
An additional study reveals that eating fifty grams of chocolate weekly can reduce the risk of dying from a stroke as much as 46 percent. Now people have a reason to feel less guilty for consuming that tasty box of chocolates received on Valentine’s Day. Being a serious chocolate lover myself, this is great news for me. While this is not necessarily paranormal news, it certainly is an interesting study.
The key is to consume it in moderation because chocolates are also high in saturated fats and can cause considerable weight gain. Of course, that’s easier said than done! More on the findings of the research linking chocolate consumption to reduced stroke risks is set to be presented at the American Academy of Neurology’s 62nd Annual Meeting hosted in Toronto.
